build smart. build for tomorrow.
In 2013, Greg and Lalo began their first construction project together using a revolutionary technique called New Adobe, also known as: Super Adobe, Rammed Earth and Earthbag Construction. New Adobe has gained significant traction in the past 5 years around the world. Today, in places like Turkey and Nepal, where earthquakes continue to pummel rural communities, New Adobe structures have withstood mother nature. This is why they're growing in popularity day by day. With walls 18" (45cm) thick, New Adobe structures can withstand fires, earthquakes, hurricanes and other natural disasters.
New Adobe building utilizes local materials, and uses a minimal amount of cement and man-made materials, which means that they have an extremely low carbon footprint.
With New Adobe, we can construct at roughly $15 per sq. ft. ($160 sq. meter). In Honduras, schools are typically made with cement blocks, which averages to roughly $24 per sq. ft. And those walls are only 5" thick.
